Masik alongside her Revelation collection, 2011.

About

Internationally collected Canadian artist Pamela Masik's innate desire to create manifests itself through a prolific body of work spanning over two decades, encompassing hundreds of paintings, sculptures, interactive high-tech installations and powerful physical performances. Her captivating work elevates the spaces of her global collectors, both private and corporate.

Years ago, Masik was intrigued by a study conducted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which observed that the average person spends mere seconds looking at a painting. She wondered then, what element of an artwork truly engages a viewer? Is it a story? Is it a guttural response? Is it a call to action? Masik has spent over twenty years visually guiding individuals to find the answers to these questions, by themselves and for themselves. Ultimately, she has only sought to warrant more than a few seconds of their time.

Passionate about impacting positive change, Masik has used her work to benefit causes that are important to her: from supporting healing within communities in need to speaking about issues requiring care and attention. Three core values inform Masik's practice, all of which exist fundamentally within the sphere of elevating awareness: socioeconomic stratification and its ramifications, the deficit of environmental consciousness, and the continued need for equality.

These core values permeate the artist's career. The international success of the Emmy Award-winning 'The Exhibition,' a feature film documentary surrounding Masik's controversial 'The Forgotten' Collection, helped cement Masik as one of a handful of elite artists whose works appreciate over time. The current value of her complete oeuvre is in the millions.

In 2018, Masik closed her 14,000 square foot Vancouver studio, a space where she grew her impressive body of work - famously painting almost 100 canvases at a time - while regularly hosting dignitaries and political leaders for live performances and community charity events.

Inspired to make the world her studio, she draws new processes and techniques from multicultural experiences, diverse peoples, and the beauty of our natural world.

Her latest works incorporate what she has explored throughout her travels: from the colours of central America, the Amazon, Asia and the Middle East, to creating and using materials from crushed flora and fauna. 'Curated Expression' is both an homage to her past and a fresh take on navigating adversity and challenge. It encourages us to find our own places of resilience, archetypes of authority, and totems of strength, inspiring us to stay grounded in our truth and power.

"My passion lies not only in creating art but also in sharing the stories and meaning of each piece in an intimate and unpretentious setting that encourages authentic connections with those who love, value, and collect art. To inspire is to be inspired.”
